I N T E R N A T I O N A L M A G A Z I N E I S S U E - 4 1 71 On Friday, May 18th, Vassula Ryden and I departed from Athens for Yerevan, Armenia’s capital and its largest city. Yerevan is one of the world’s oldest con- tinuously inhabited cities. Situated along the Hraz- dan River, Yerevan is the administrative, cultural, and industrial center of the country. It has been the capi- tal since 1918, and it also serves as the seat of the Ar- aratian Pontifical Diocese: the largest diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church and one of the oldest dioceses in the world. Even though Armenia is only a three-hour direct flight from Athens, we spent the whole day travelling, as there was no direct flight. We arrived in Yerevan very late, around mid- night. Upon our arrival we were warmly welcomed by the True Life in God organizers in Armenia: Andranik, Lusine, Sasun and Marina, Gagik-Sima- Luanna, Gayane, Robert, Gayane and Aram, in ad- dition to Arpy, Sevan, Ar- thur, Aram and Meline who came from USA to assist the organizers. They gave Vassula lovely flower bouquets and a heartfelt appreciation for her visit to Armenia. We were also very happy to see Charbel (cameraman) and Lea Maamari (re- porter) from the Lebanese TV channel Tele Lumiere who came to Armenia to cover Vassula’s mission so as to televise it, post it on their social media, and at the same time produce a documentary about the churches and the current state of Christianity in Armenia. On our way to the hotel, Arpy informed us of the many obstacles that the organizers encountered by the high hierarchy of the Armenian Church; she dis- closed her concern as to whether this situation would prevent people from coming to the meeting. She also shared information about the organizing team’s ac- complished efforts towards the meeting’s success. Even though the church’s high hierarchy maintained a negative stance, God is always faithful. Well before Vassula’s Visit to Armenia May 18-21, 2018 our arrival, His Grace, Archbishop Aris Shirvanian requested to schedule a meeting with us when he heard about our upcoming visit. We were very happy to hear this, as we have missed his company at our pilgrimages. Archbishop Shirvanian’s health issues prevented him from attending the last few. Content- edly, Arpy informed us that His Grace would meet us for breakfast the next morning. Both Vassula and I were very delighted to see him. We shared our news since it had been years since we last met, and he happily disclosed that he planned to attend Vassula’s presentation. At this break- fast meeting we also had the pleasure of meeting Archbishop Shirvanian’s nephew and Suzy Mard- irosian, who assisted Archbishop Shirvanian in establishing a founda- tion in his name to sup- port the poor and those who lack water in the Armenian villages. We also met Fr. Dajad David- ian, an Armenian priest, Archbishop Shirvanian’s good friend. Vassula re- vealed to him information about her mission and revelation, as he showed an interest to learn about the TLIG Messages and True Life in God. After our meeting we departed with Arpy and Sevan for a city tour; we had some free time before Vassula’s meeting, which was due to take place at 3:00 p.m at the Elite Plaza Business Center in Yeneman. Vassula, who had visited Armenia some years ago, commented on how glad she was to see that the city had devel- oped. Yerevan is marked by grand Soviet-era archi- tecture, but it also has its own unique style. On our way to the meeting, Arpy received a call from the organizers informing her that the venue was full; 500 people were there! This was really amazing taking into consideration all the obstacles that the organizers encountered. The program started before our arrival with a fifteen minute introductory video of Vassula’s mission and a choir performance. We arrived at about Vassula with Archbishop Shirvanian, his nephew, Suzy Mardirosian, Fr. Dajad Davidian and Sevan
